Hello
INGRID MOLINOS
(She / Her)
I'm a choreographer, dancer and teacher based in London. I'm passionate about working in inclusive settings and believe that an open, diverse and plural society should be reflected in the arts.
Originally from Barcelona, I started my training in ballet as a young child, and continued it alongside folk dance and contemporary well into my late teens, but having acquired a permanent injury at birth, I found myself excluded of progressing into professional training. This, in turn, led me to explore other creative endeavors and through time I ended up building a successful career as a hair, wigs and make-up artist.
Dance, however, was always a part of me and, as times moved on, I decided to leap into the industry and return to training as a mature student. In 2011, I graduated with a First Class BA (Hons) in Dance Studies from Middlesex University. Throughout my studies I focused in choreography and found a great interest in Graham technique which I then explored in depth at the Martha Graham School in New York City.
During my first year at university, I attended a workshop with Amici Dance Theatre Company and finally felt I could belong in the dance world. I joined the company as a dancer and have been fortunate to grow as a well rounded artist and leader. Nowadays, I am also the Artistic Director of Young Amici with whom I continue to build a platform for young disabled and non disabled performers to develop creatively in a safe and supportive environment.
I teach weekly at Young Amici, lead the dance course for adults with learning disabilities at Morley College and mentor those interested in making their practice more inclusive. My teaching practice is also influenced by my background as a practitioner of the Feldenkrais method of somatic education.
Additionally, I am an independent choreographer committed to working with those less represented in the mainstream.
For commissions and workshops, please get in touch. I look forward to hearing from you!
